Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions not listed here, email us at faq@apetactical.com and we will respond quickly.

Are you licensed?

Yes.  We have both the City of Bristol, TN/State of Tennessee, and Sullivan County business licenses. We have a new FFL in-process and expect approval in a relatively short period of time. Once issued you may check it on the ATF EZ-Check website. Until the FFL is completed we are limited to non-firearm repair services at this time. See our other services listings.

Where is your shop located?

My shop is in Bristol, Tennessee

What should I expect when I come in for a repair?

We can, during this time of Covid19, pick up your repair items and take in your firearm, tag it, and give you a ticket with an estimate for the repair.  If preferred we can make an appointment to suit your schedule. Every repair is different and we have to see the condition of your firearm before we can make an estimate. However, you can check our normal pricing under the “Services” tab above.

How long will it take for me to get my guns back?

Minor repairs and jobs such as installing a butt pad, replacing screws & springs, or a scope mounting can be done within a few days with very few exceptions.  Other repairs can take days to weeks depending on the brand and age of your gun for parts availability. A complete restoration (refinishing metal and wood, repairing broken and missing parts) can take 6 months or more depending on our backlog and that of our specialists. Realistically, a lot of the time spent is waiting on parts, finishes to dry enough, or waiting on callbacks from other suppliers when we try to locate hard to find parts.

I like to quote a sign from my dad’s repair shop in the 1970s: “The difficult we can do quickly, the impossible might take us a little longer!”
